#ISTAT PRO FOR MAC#
Thanks for the link.IStat Menus for Mac lets you monitor your system right from the menubar. I’ve got fan rpm and CPU temp in my system tray now for quick, easy reference. Macs Fan Control is still available though.
#ISTAT PRO PRO#
Looks like iStat Pro is extinct and can no longer be downloaded anyway. However, as mentioned there is iStatMenus Pro, which offers much more than fan control, and IME wasn't all that reliable at controlling fans.Īlternatively, a good standalone option is Macs Fan Control, which is free, and is pretty good.
#ISTAT PRO FULL#
I would suggest that a good clean is advisable, if it is full of fluff and dust, then any software fix is only going to be a temporary solution - indeed, bunging up the fans higher is only more likely to suck in more debris to clog the airways even more than they are now. The fan appears to be working as warm air flows out of the opening at the back, but there is no way of telling if the fan actually operates effectively.Ī good internal clean would probably be a good idea but considering the complexity of such an undertaking, that is for the present something I'm not really looking forward to.Īny suggestions would be appreciated, thanks!

It's an almost 8 year old, 24 inch Intel and lately I get the impression it gets pretty hot. I'm looking for preferably (free) software which can monitor the CPU temperature in my iMac.
